The company hired Jason Dyer as Vice President of Regional Sales East and Dave Reinhart as Vice President of Regional Sales West; both joined in July 2026 and report to Satrajit Misra, the company&#8217;s Chief Commercial Officer. QT Imaging is now migrating from a distributor-led model to an integrated commercial model, with the explicit argument of improving gross margin and taking direct ownership of customer engagement, strategic account development, clinical education and market development.<\/p>\n<p>The existing partnership was not severed. The company will keep working with NXC Imaging, a wholly owned subsidiary of Canon Medical Systems USA, under the current distribution arrangement. &ldquo;We value our relationship with NXC Imaging and will continue to work collaboratively as we build the internal capabilities to support our next phase of growth,&rdquo; Misra said. In practice it is a hybrid arrangement: distributor reach plus an in-house team focused on large accounts.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Building a direct U.S. commercial organization is an important step in QT Imaging&#8217;s evolution into a scalable precision imaging platform,&rdquo; the executive said. The stated goal of working directly with breast imaging centers, clinicians and enterprise health systems is to better understand each customer&#8217;s clinical, operational and economic priorities, support evidence generation and physician education, and open a shorter path to adoption. Depending on early results, the company may selectively add commercial resources in 2027.<\/p>\n<h2>Who the two hires are<\/h2>\n<p>The profiles signal where the company believes the bottleneck sits. Dyer brings two decades of commercial leadership across breast imaging, breast cancer diagnostics, surgical oncology and medical devices. Before QT he was Vice President of Sales and Service at Clarix Imaging, where he helped build the company&#8217;s first commercial organization following FDA clearance of its 3D breast specimen CT imaging system.<\/p>\n<p>Reinhart has more than 35 years in breast imaging, breast cancer diagnostics, surgical oncology, ultrasound and medical device commercialization. He has held senior commercial roles at Merit Medical Oncology, Clarix Imaging, SonoCin&eacute;, Bioptics\/Faxitron and Siemens Medical Systems. The common denominator is having sold breast technology to radiologists and surgeons inside large health systems &mdash; precisely the audience that has to reorganize workflow to accommodate a new device.<\/p>\n<h2>How breast acoustic CT actually works<\/h2>\n<p>The technical basis is worth revisiting, because the product name misleads. Despite the &ldquo;CT&rdquo; label, the device uses no X-rays. The patient lies prone with the breast immersed in water, and a ring of transducers rotates around it emitting and capturing ultrasound in transmission &mdash; the beam passes through tissue rather than only returning by reflection, as in conventional B-mode ultrasound.<\/p>\n<p>From beam transit time and attenuation, the system reconstructs volumetric maps of speed of sound and attenuation. Speed of sound in breast tissue, which runs roughly between $1400$ and $1600$ m\/s, works as a quantitative marker related to tissue composition. Two practical consequences follow from that design: there is no ionizing radiation and no breast compression, and the result depends far less on operator technique than handheld ultrasound &mdash; which reduces variability across sites.<\/p>\n<p>The device has already cleared two regulatory and reimbursement milestones we have covered: FDA clearance of the breast acoustic CT scanner, and <a href=\"https:\/\/rtmedical.com.br\/en\/qt-imaging-cpt-3d-breast-ultrasound\/\">obtaining a CPT code for 3D breast ultrasound<\/a>. Authorization and a billing code are prerequisites, not a guarantee of adoption &mdash; and that gap is exactly what the new commercial team exists to close.<\/p>\n<h2>Why this matters to screening programs<\/h2>\n<p>The clinical context is dense breasts. About 40% of women have dense breast tissue, a condition that lowers mammographic sensitivity and raises cancer risk, and that sustains a supplemental screening market with no clear winner yet. MRI performs well but is expensive and uses contrast; handheld ultrasound is cheap and available but operator-dependent with a high false-positive rate. For a department manager, though, the questions are different: how many minutes per patient, how much floor space, what the technologist learning curve looks like, and how the exam lands on the local reimbursement schedule. Those answers &mdash; not the physics &mdash; decide purchases.<\/p>\n<h2>Outlook and what to watch<\/h2>\n<p>Hiring two vice presidents is not clinical evidence, and expectations should stay calibrated. What the news actually tells us is that QT Imaging believes it has reached a stage where the obstacle is no longer regulatory but commercial: convincing imaging centers to allocate a room, schedule slots and staff to a modality most radiologists have never operated.<\/p>\n<p>Three indicators are worth tracking over the coming quarters. First, publications with screening outcomes in real populations, not just agreement with existing methods. Second, disclosed installed base &mdash; the number of systems in operation is the most honest test of a commercial strategy. Third, reimbursement behavior: having a CPT code does not mean the paid amount makes the exam viable.
